She pulled the sleeves of her jumper down, a loose thread caught her eye drawing all her attention and then she remembered it all. The blood in front of her seemed as real as the thread and just as red. She loved red. But blue ran down her cheeks from her eyes at the memories. Why, why, why? ran through her mind. An all consuming fire which destroyed all joy she had ever known; all the people, places and things she had loved seemed like nothing against this wall of black, black memory. A salty droplet hit the thread and she was suddenly pulled back into the murky light of the daytime.

"Excuse me?" Came a voice from beside her.

Flinching she looked up Did I do something wrong, again? but instead of the usual malice and hatred were soft blue eyes and tangled blonde hair. He was smiling innocently and looking at her softly.

"You seemed sad," He began with that soft voice "I just wanted to tell you; I don't know you but you're a beautiful individual and that you deserve to live." reaching towards her he tried to hold her wrists but she pulled away Don't look at  me kindly! He retracted his hands and rested them on his lap softly.

"P-please…" she began shakily

"Your life may seem useless and painful," he began again leaning back and looking up at the sky "But we all die eventually so why not have some fun before it is all gone."

She looked back at the thread and tried to ignore his words You don't know me…I'm terrible! But he wasn't fazed by her rejection. He held out a small rectangle to her; a business card with the outline of wings in silver and a name 'Mark Jones' with a line of numbers below it. There were other words she didn't comprehend…

"I'd rather you yelled at me than took it out on yourself." He stood up and smiled at her his feet carried him into the crowd. Then he was gone.

She clutched hold of the card transfixed by the four words her eyes drying as the sun came out again. Golden rays shone around her.

'Kindness of a stranger' she read it over and over until the mantra made her smile…

"Thank you." She murmured in the direction of the crowd.
